Sandy Island YMCA Family Camp was established 112 years ago on a 66 acre wooded island in Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. It is a part of the YMCA of Greater Boston, a non-profit organization that started with the very first YMCA in the United States in 1851. If you’d like you can read more about the Mission & History of the YMCA of Greater Boston, as well as the History of Sandy Island Family Camp.
During the summer Sandy Island YMCA provides families of all sizes, multiple generations, couples and singles with an ideal summer vacation. Campers stay in lakefront cabins and take part in organized activities, dances, and meals. At the beginning and end of every season there is the opportunity to rent out part of the camp for functions, such as our wedding!
On the island there is a lodge, a dining hall, outdoor chapel, four square court, bocce court, ball field, volleyball & basketball court, horse shoe pit, tennis court, badminton court, lagoon, campfire area, shuffleboard, swimming area, canoes, and docks.
The April 2010 issue of Budget Travel magazine featured Sandy Island YMCA in an article: “Happy Campers” (click to read).
