We’re looking forward to spending time with everyone, relaxing and having fun, and would love it if you are able to stay with us for the weekend!
For a great introduction to what the camp is like, the April 2010 issue of Budget Travel magazine featured Sandy Island YMCA in an article: “Happy Campers” (click to read).
Cabins
Accommodations for the weekend are in rustic but comfortable cabins with electricity. Several large bathhouses with hot showers are located a short walk from the cabins. A few cabins have bathrooms and running water (these will be reserved for those who need them). Each has a porch with a beautiful lake view. Some of the larger cabins have a shared living room and a fireplace. Pillows, linens and blankets are provided.
Food
The meals are delicious and served family style in the dining hall. Meals are included in the cost of your stay, and the reception dinner is provided for all in attendance by us. Regular meals will include one hot entrée. Lunch and dinner meals include a salad bar. Breakfast includes a breakfast bar and cereal. Regular meal beverages are milk, water, juice, coffee/tea. Vegetarian options can be made available. Kid-friendly options will also be available for the reception dinner and throughout the weekend.
Island Stay Options
You can stay for two nights (Friday & Saturday), which includes four meals and aforementioned accommodations. $145 per adult, $73 per child ages 3-16 (children under 3 are free).
Alternatively, you can stay for one night (Saturday), which includes brunch the next day and the aforementioned accommodations. $65 per adult, $33 per child 3-16 (children under 3 are free). Also, for those wanting to join us early, you can arrive on Thursday night for an extra $35 per person, which includes dinner and breakfast the next day.
Meals, lodging, activities and the boat shuttle to and from the island are included in these fees. You can let us know if you’ll be staying with us on the island in the invitation/RSVP.
Alternatives
The boat landing we will be using to get to Sandy Island is called Harilla Landing, and it is located in Moultonborough, NH. The towns closest to Harilla Landing (besides Moultonborough of course) are Meredith and Center Harbor, which are about 15-30 minutes away.
If you prefer to stay in a hotel, there are some places to stay in and around Meredith (in no particular order): Lake Shore Motel & Cottages, The Inns & Spa at Mill Falls, Meredith Inn, Center Harbor Inn, Maple Cottages, Rodeway Inn, and Savoie’s Lodging & Camping. Late September is prime foliage season, so if you are planning on staying off the island, you should try to reserve a room sooner rather than later. There is additional information about inns and hotels at the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce website.
In Wolfeboro, which is about 45-55 minutes away, there is the Piping Rock Resort, Allen A Motor Inn, Pine View Lodge, Lakeview Inn, and Wolfeboro Inn. For more on inns and hotels in that area, see the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce website.
